New Hemp Chainpots to be available in 2021

In an effort to meet and possibly exceed the expected National Organic Program rules regarding the use of paper pots on certified organic farms, the manufacturer of paper chain pots in Japan has been hard at work developing a paper that utilizes hemp fibers for strength to replace the synthetic fibers in their existing paper chain pot products. This exciting development will make paper chain pots a more environmentally sustainable product. It will also increase paper decomposition rates which will make it so that there is less of an issue with the paper from a previous crop interfering with the planting of subsequent crops. Because of the faster decomposition of the hemp fiber paper, Hemp Chainpots are recommended for crops that will be transplanted within 30 days from seeding. Watch for the Hemp Chainpots in the Small Farm Works store this winter!
